The word ProVia can be translated as “the professional way” and ProVia exemplifies professionalism in every sense of the word. The ProVia today is a family-owned company with manufacturing in Ohio and Mississippi that manufactures windows, doors, siding and stone. Because they are a faith-based company they strive to put their beliefs into practice and that is the reason for their success. They work to find solutions that can benefit their customers, employees, and company as a whole.
ProVia got its start in Sugarcreek, Ohio in the heart of Amish country. As with many successful companies, ProVia had humble beginnings when Bill and Andrew Mullet bought a window company in 1977. They moved this business to a rented garage in Sugarcreek and soon added steel entry doors to expand and increase their business. Over the next few years the ownership changed as Andrew sold his share, and other partners were added. In 1982 Bill Mullet became the sole owner and changed the name to Precision Door and Glass. From the start, the roots of the company were in doing what’s right for the customer:
Early on, we determined that we were going to be a company that was built on trust by keeping our word and commitments. Customers received what they bargained for and our driving force became to give what we have agreed to, and more, but never less. –Bill Mullet
The 1980s saw a lot of growth for the company, as they added their first salesman, began marketing, bought their first delivery truck, and sold the storm door and window business and focused exclusively on the entry door business. In the early ‘90s they introduced fiberglass entry doors to their lineup. In 1995 Precision purchased Sugarcreek Window and Door to become the ProVia Sugarcreek Facility. Now the products included aluminum storm doors and windows, vinyl windows and patio doors, and wood and vinyl windows and patio doors.
The mid-to-late 1990s were big years for the company, and in 1996 they were employing seven salesmen and delivering to 23 states. The company had their first million dollar sales month, and they went on to form their own engineering department to have control over research and development of new window and door components and innovation. They continued to grow and in 2002 bought an automated glass insulating line. While they continued to innovate, they also had a deep commitment to the environment:
Manufacturing products that earn the Energy Star rating is good for our customers and for the environment. We are able to create the superior products our customers expect while helping reduce carbon emission. That’s good business and good stewardship. Our long standing partnership with Energy Star shows our organization’s commitment to energy efficiency. We understand that partnering with ENERGY STAR is an important step in protecting the planet God has entrusted to us.- Bill Mullet
This led to Precision Entry being named the 2006 Energy Star Partner of the Year, and ProVia continues today to strive to respect and care for the environment and offers products that help with energy efficiency. 2007 was a huge year for the company, as they not only added Inspirations Art Glass to their collection, but Precision Entry, Monarch IG, and Sugarcreek Industries were finally united under ProVia Door and the new logo symbolizing the professional way was created.
As you can see, ProVia has a rich history of seeking out quality partners and products. Because they were committed to innovation, they were able to add unique products, such as Inspirations Art Glass, and continue to strive to be Energy Star approved. The 2000s saw the acquisition of Heartland Siding, and Heritage Stone, expanding ProVia’s offerings to provide even more great products to their customers. The 2010s added in the Aeris collection that featured real wood interiors on windows and doors. 2013 was a huge year for ProVia, and they outlined principles that outline and define their mission. These include their Purpose, Vision, Mission, and Values and is to educate all employees so they can be working towards the same goals. Their mission really emphasizes what sets them apart: “To serve, by caring for details in ways others won’t.” ProVia continues to innovate products, and strives to keep those values that the Mullet family built the company on.
